		<description>Byron,

Excellent article and indeed very insightful. Although a monumental task, I would hope that the current administration would take a more &quot;out of the box&quot; approach and take there search to the &quot;private sector&quot;? To accomplish this task and actually get the job done, it will take a lot more talent...and a lot less politics.

Please keep up the good work!

<description>Byron, your coverage on Melissa Hathaway’s resignation was very insightful, and I think you alluded to the key point... without the power to drive change, this is a hopeless position. While it’s encouraging that the need for White House leadership is broadly recognized by business and military leaders, lawmakers, and the intelligence community, recognition is not enough. To succeed, the cyber czar will need the power of the federal purse, the mantle of diplomatic authority and – as reported - inside access to the White House. He/she will have to be a big-picture planner and a credible voice to industry. The czar will also have to address four overarching tasks:

1) Protect the United States: Assess and set the architecture to protect government networks.

2) Assess foreign policy and be the cyber policymaker. (Cyber security is an international issue).

3) Focus on the protection of commercial intellectual property and commercial infrastructure.

4) Strengthen collaboration between government and industry to foster cyber innovation, and then fund it.

An extraordinary mission, but possible. Thank you again for keeping the dialogue going on this all-important topic.
