Slashdot book reviewer lauds ZDT

ben_rothkeBen Rothke’s review of Zero Day Threat for Slashdot is most appreciated.  I  welcome Rothke’s informed analysis and wider context setting. He calls ZDT an “eye-opening look at how banks and credit card companies make ID theft and fraud rather elementary,” and alludes to the public awareness component, which is the whole reason for doing this book.

To be mentioned in the same column as Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, the treatise on DDT that launched environmental movement, or Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, an expose of meat packing abuses which spawned the FDA, is quite an honor. I agree with Ben that the challenge of getting leaders  to address the rising threat to our security and privacy is a much bigger hurdle in this day and age.

That’s why I’ll be tracking closely what the Obama administration does with the posts of White House CTO and National Cybersecurity Czar in the coming 100 days. If this book adds to the discussion it will have served a high purpose.

Ben  is the author of Computer Security: 20 Things Every Employee Should Know.
