Venture Beat grills author about ZDT

I should’ve known that Dean Takahashi, formerly of the San Jose Merc, now blogging at Venture Beat, would pull no punches interviewing me about Zero Day Threat. See Dean’s grilling of me here.
As the esteemed author on tomes on the making and marketing of the Xbox and the Xbox 360, Deano knows what it’s like to cut through the spin of corporate marketing machinery. As grizzled sports columnist Larry Henry once told me: It’s like wrestling a bear, and winning.

Byron,
I just picked up a copy of the book today. Given your comments about attrition.org in your Venture Beat interview, why were they not mentioned or even acknowledged in the book?

Are you with attrition.org? At the time of the book’s deadline last fall, we were citing Privacy Rights Clearinghouse. Only recently have I had a chance to go one level deeper and do sorts on attrition’s great data base.

Yes, I’m “with” attrition.org, and thanks for the compliment.

PRC clearly cites attrition.org as a primary source of their data. Did Jon not mention his conversations with us to you? Jon spoke with us over the phone regarding a story about Choicepoint, many months before the book’s last deadline:

Attrition call me re its data breach list? I would like to cite it in an upcoming story on ChoicePoint.
