ZDT hot off the presses, at long last

Others have affirmed that the book looks terrific, and reads briskly. Sandra’s email brings to mind the long, tortuous road to get to this point. I thought an A-list publisher would snap up my 25-page book proposal for ZDT in early 2006 and plunk down a fat advance. Didn’t happen. Phil Turner, then at Carrol & Graff, an imprint of Avalon Books, was one of only two editors who got it (the other was Lyron Bennett at Sourcebooks). Phil signed ZDT for Carrol & Graff, but shortly after left C&G, just ahead of Avalon getting acquired by Perseus Books, which had taken a pass on the proposal. Just weeks before the manuscript was due in early 2007, Perseus shut down Carrol & Graff. ZDT looked like it was heading for orphanhood.
Fortunately, Phil resurfaced as chief of Union Square Press, Sterling Publishing’s newest imprint. Back story on
